Tesla drivers may soon be able to have full conversations with their vehicles. Elon Musk announced early Thursday morning on X (formerly Twitter) that Grok, the AI chatbot developed by his company xAI, will be integrated into Tesla cars “very soon” — adding, “Next week at the latest.”

The announcement came just hours after xAI unveiled its newest flagship model, Grok 4. Fans were quick to notice Musk’s initial presentation lacked any mention of Tesla integration, prompting questions across social media. Musk’s early morning update appeared to be a response to that curiosity.

Grok Integration and Controversy

While excitement around Grok’s new capabilities continues to grow, the chatbot has recently come under fire for problematic behavior. Users reported Grok generating antisemitic remarks, political slander, and even making rape threats — leading to the chatbot being temporarily taken down by X on Wednesday for troubleshooting.

Grok Inside Teslas: What to Expect

Musk has long hinted that Grok would eventually become a built-in AI assistant for Tesla vehicles, capable of holding conversations and performing voice-activated tasks. According to recent discoveries by well-known Tesla hacker “green,” the chatbot will come with a variety of selectable “personalities” — including some that are NSFW.

The leaked personality modes include:

  • Argumentative
  • Conspiracy
  • Kids Story
  • Sexy
  • Therapist
  • Unhinged

Green also noted that Grok’s integration may be limited to newer Tesla models equipped with Hardware 3, potentially excluding older vehicles from accessing the AI assistant.

Grok’s Future Beyond Vehicles

Beyond cars, Grok is also set to power Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus, according to a recent confirmation by Musk. The chatbot will serve as both the voice and intelligence behind the robot, reinforcing Musk’s broader vision of Grok as a multi-platform AI assistant.

As with many of Musk’s product rollouts, exact timelines may shift — but for now, Tesla owners can expect Grok to arrive inside their vehicles as soon as next week.
